Dear Preschool Parents,
This week in the preschool classroom, we came to a close on our theme "My Five Senses". The children learned about touch, taste, see, hear, and smell over the last three weeks. They did a great job relating their senses to real life situations and how their senses are used in and outside the classroom. Please continue to talk to your child about which senses they are using at different points in the day.
The children have done a WONDERFUL job working on the letter of the week. Their word lists have grown dramatically since the beginning of the school year. Thank you for talking to your child about each letter, it makes such a difference in classroom participation.
Next week, we will only be in session Monday and Tuesday. There will be no letter of the week but we will be reviewing letters A and B. Our focus for next week will be Thanksgiving. We will talk about the importance of the holiday and why it is celebrated.
Reminders:
• NO SCHOOL on Thursday and Friday, November 26th and 27th. Classes will resume on Monday, November 30th. The letter of the week following Thanksgiving will be J.
• We have an upcoming field trip to the Bass Pro Shop to participate in their "Winter Wonderland" on Thursday, December 10th. A permission slip will be sent home today. I do ask for four parent volunteers. The cost of the field trip will be $2.00
• Due to the wet conditions, grades k-8 will be having recess on the back parking lot. The school asks preschool parents to please park on the east 33rd street or the front parking lot to pick up your child due to safety issues.
• The 4 year olds will be getting their vision screened on Tuesday, December 8th. If you wish for your child not to receive the screening, please let Mrs. McCuen or myself know.
• Scholastic Book orders are due on Tuesday, November 24th.
